New Moon

by Poet on the Piano   Oct 7, 2007

You took me on a walk,
And told me not to cry.
You said you were going to leave me,
Because it was the best thing for us,
Then you said you would never come back.

Then you were gone,
You left so quickly.
I ran to try to get you back,
But it was just no use.
You had swept through the forest,
Leaving no trail behind.

I fell to the ground,
My knees giving out.
I was desperate to find you,
But I knew you had gone.

Then I let the darkness of the night take over me,
And as I looked up at the black sky,
I realized there was no moon,
But instead there was a new moon.
That made that night the darkest one ever.

The months went by,
And you didn't come back.
I don't know why I was waiting for you,
To suddenly arrive,
I had lost you forever.

My life didn't matter to me,
No one understood why I was sad,
No one saw that I had lost you.
I wanted to cry so badly,
But there was nowhere safe enough.

I couldn't stop saying your name,
Wherever I went.
I had no reason to live,
To breath,
Because you weren't there with me.

We had so many good times,
But those memories were slipping farther away.
I would never get over the shock,
Of how you really broke my heart.

The years have gone by,
And I still am very hurt.
I hope I'll never forget you,
And how you once loved me,
But then you broke that love between us.

Throughout my lifetime,
I will always be hopeless without you.

I'll never forget that night,
When I lost my true love.
And that night,
There wasn't a moon,
But instead a new moon.
