Flame From A Candle

by Just Lucy   Oct 10, 2007

She's burning a candle on the night of the 10th
She's burning it through till theres nothing left
She's holding within it what USED to be
She's destroying that candle the day he destroyed her

To get back her courage
To get back her pride
To get back her dignity
So soon she wont hide

Some say its just a candle
But to her its so much more
I guess kind of like a vigil
To watch the wax fall

With each bead of burning wax
Is a piece of that night leaving her
With every ounce of smoke it sends
Is like releasing her past with a shining silver key

Its a life once forgotten
A life that wasn't to be lived
A life almost lost
A life conspiring tragedies

A flame burns for life
The smoke being the essence
The wax falls for the pain
That once held itself within her

Some say its just a candle
And to you that may be true
But to her it is her life inside
Each year its what helps get her through

The flame that burns is for redemption
Its for gaining back what was lost
A complete candle soon to melt
Is what she once felt inside

So when she lights her candle
On the night of the 10th
Don't ask her why she's crying;-
Because the candle made her do it.
