Night

by Lauren   Oct 11, 2007

Fire crackles
it the fireplace
the smell of burning
wood fills the room
a boy sleeps
stretched out on the
couch.
His chest rising
and falling in an
almost rhythmic way.
As the full moon slowly
glides across the night sky
w/ stars sparkling
like millions of
diamonds spread across
a sheet of
black silk
a wolf howls deep into
the night.
The sound made
louder by the empty silence
that is nature.
An owl swoops
silently down upon
it's next meal.
As nature returns
to it's silent
night a girl
stares into the
room.
A blanket folded
over her arms.
Slowly she covers
the boy with it
before retuning
to her room.
Making no sound
even in the darkness
that blinds her,
both emotionally
and literally.
Her first concern
is and always
will be
her little brother's
health.
That is the true love
of family.
