Oceans Apart

by ephemera   Oct 15, 2007

Only you keep my heart beating
Dreaming of you when I should be sleeping
Walking the sand, where land meets shore
Have I lost you forever?
Surviving only from day to day
Autumn has passed into winter's gray
Numb to warmth of everything
Letting myself fade away into nothing

I'm finding new ways to disappear
Drowning in this ocean
Life means nothing without my heart
And I cannot find it anywhere

Walking the paths we used to run
Finding dead ends where there used to be none
Falling and laying on the ground
Waiting and knowing I won't be found
Has this become my solitude?
Running the broken roads of my youth
Trying to repair the aching
Ghosts of you still haunting

I'm finding new ways to disappear
Drowning in this ocean
Life means nothing without my heart
And I cannot find it anywhere

If only you weren't so damn beautiful
If only I could learn to hate you
But you are too golden in my mind
A love I've waited my life to find
And now you've reappeared
Letting me know you always cared
And for a moment it is enough
Reality denying us our love

I'm finding new ways to disappear
Drowning in this ocean
Life means nothing without my heart
And I cannot find it anywhere

And someday I will rise above the waves
Someday I will not make the same mistake
Together you and I will forever be
Someday when I rise above this treacherous sea
