Time Stops

by ToWriteLoveOnHerArms   Oct 16, 2007

Month of Christmas,
And supposed cheer.
Santa clause,
Elves,
And little reindeer.
A simple errand gone wrong,
A family in a picture,
The straight away,
A little long.

The beam of headlights,
Coming at us without warning.
Time stops,
And my ears start ringing.
Could have heard a pin drop,
My mind span.
What was happening?
Why is mom screaming?
My heart ran.
I closed my eyes,
My hands clutched.
The chaos not taming.

::SMASH::

I dont remember the details,
And I dont recall my feelings.
I saw my brother,
I saw the man,
I saw the friend,
And I saw my mom.

He face was covered,
In a crimson substance.
No, it coulconcludeMom, please speak to me.
This cant be happening,
Youre too young.
Im too young.
To her hands I clung.

::BLUR::

The ambulance is gone,
And so is my hope.
If that man had been more concerned on the road,
Instead of his damn dog.
He didnt ask if we were okay,
Niether did he care.
It was all about him,
None of this is fair.

Please mom,
Hang on.

I wrote this for one of my close friends, who lost his mom in a car accident when he was a kid.
