Rain of Sorrow

by Jane Elliot   Oct 17, 2007

Black clouds fill the sky, and i look to the heavens for an answer
Nature has voiced its opinion of my request
I am struck down by flashes before me
and i am not at my best

My heart pitter patters in the rain
Thinking of the lost memories of our forgotten love
I feel the freezing rain penetrate my bones
as i pray for guidance from above

My eyes search for a written answer in the sky
but nothing appears and i am lost in a forbidden haze
I feel like withering like a burnt tree into the ground
but instead i walk in this freezing rain in a daze

I'm on the ground pleading to the gods
wet, and miserable from chilling thoughts
that entwine around me like vines
but i realize that i am caught

I gave my heart and soul to a man who is like ice
but it was my frozen heart to give
so I am on the ground in this rain ,wet and sobbing to no end
nature is telling me that i must live

Without you i am numb and i cannot draw a breath
I wheeze from the cold and no air escapes me
I am one with nature and surely at its best
It will guide me to you or set my heart free
