Sleep

Sleep
By:Teila Apolinaris

In a room,
Lights are off,
Sitting all alone.
Standing slowly to my feet,
To walk across the room.
But demon chains and sorrow,
Weigh me down to move.
Ankles bleeding,
Liquid deep,
I can not feel my legs.
Falling down to the ground,
Like a man trying to walk on pegs.
Hands are numb,
Feeling faint,
No one hears me scream.
In the dark,
To die alone,
In my fateful sleep.
