Never Give Up

My heart pumping fast and my feet ache.
For every step, one breath I take.

People pass me left and right,
But I keep going with all my might.

"Hurry up shorty" someone yells as they wiz past.
Yet another says "Don't worry, the worst you can get is LAST!"

I keep encouraging myself as I go,
To keep my stance and to stay low.

The finish line is coming into my view,
And I look around and I'm one of very few.

Tears sting my eyes and I don't think I can do it
I start to slow down and tell myself to just quit.

Then I hear my coach yell "Don't let me down! Finish this race"
"I won't quit, I will finish this for me" I say picking up my pace.

At that moment a gun shot I hear,
In my mind, I am prepared, I have faith.
And I will receive a gold medal this year.

    I liked this.

    I found the idea behind this to be both original and unique in concept, and despite being relatively short, you managed to put in so much depth and emotion, which isn't always easy to do.

    I thought your flow could be a little better in some places, but other than that I enjoyed the piece, and the inspiration it brings to the reaader.

    Very refreshing read, I love poems like this...with a little story of self-inspiration to them that end very well. Flow was kinda shaky throughout but i was able to understand and follow along perfectly well done. Keep up your writing! 5/5

    Very good. And I know how it feels as an athlete to enter a race or any competittion and have that adrenaline rush and push yourself to the peak. And I thought it was very creative that you wrote about this, very good job, keep it up.
