Truth Hides In The Darkest Places.

Beauty is disillusionment.
We hold our heroes up so high,
Embracing all the truth and innocence
We think that no one ever lies.

The model always told the truth,
With her smile, never growing tired.
As she strutted down the runway,
She shined just as bright as fire.

Her dreams came true at seventeen,
She was standing on cloud nine, so tall.
Making everyone around her jealous,
Her hopes so high, they'd never fall.

The cop, he always told the truth,
In his life, morality always came first.
Putting criminal after criminal away,
Doing justice almost felt like a curse.

His little boys looked up to him,
When he would put another bad guy behind bars.
They knew he'd never let them down in life,
Saying,We're so glad this daddy's ours.

The Valedictorian always told the truth,
Everyone was so jealous of his grades.
Envious, they looked away,
He was the boy everybody loved to hate.

He never seemed to be that happy,
But with brains like that who wouldn't smile?
Everyone thought he would beat out Einstein,
With his eyes shining all the while.

But soon the boys and students learned,
The true essence of reality,
Not everyone is strong like steel;
Some cannot face up to life's brutality.

Those we idolize, don't always tell the truth,
They are only human after all.
Perfection lies in the plane of non-existence,
Proving even the brightest and tallest will eventually fall.

So here is how our heroes lives played out,
They weren't such brilliant shining stars.
They kept their secrets from both you and I,
But now revealing all they really are.

The models beauty told a lie,
Although she stood up tall
Her smile didn't tell the whole story,
For she held a beauty all too flawed.

An eating disorder took her life,
She just couldn't stand up to the fame.
Picture perfect, turned to worthless,
Not knowing where to place the blame.

The cops protection told a lie,
Although he put another drug dealer away.
His sternness didn't tell the whole story,
For he ruined his family's life that day.

His kids they watched in terror,
As they took their daddy away.
For he had a meth lab in their basement,
Proving hypocrisy is here to stay.

The valedictorian told his class a lie,
Although his intentions were all too pure.
His intelligence didn't tell the whole story,
For he was lonely and without a cure.

His classmates they all wondered,
While staring at his empty desk;
Why isn't he in school today?
-Last night he put a bullet in his chest.

The truth hides in the darkest places,
Sometimes it's hard to watch our heroes die.
But the next time you reach for a hand to hold,
Remember- Everybody lies.
