Refund

I'd like my tokens of time
returned neatly into my pocket.
I insist to keep what's mine.

Fold the passed notes,
keep them pristine like a new penny
And return them to me
with unwritten words that I've more than seen
and dirty looks passed in between
what was once a bond stronger, brighter
than the greenest of green
monsters.

And that'll be all for now.
I'll pick up my heart's pieces,
For I was the one who invested afterall
I am the owner of my own brokenness
But you, my friend
are the owner of my downfall.
I was fine behind my safety walls.

Richer than rich, calmer than still.
Monument to rubble now
.. it's the emptiness that fills
this once whole heart; it is tired
and we've much rebuilding to do.
It'll have to be without you

Stay on your side once I'm all gathered
I'll thicken stone to keep you out.
And then I'll count the wasted seconds,
the battle scars, and the diameter of this crack,
in which you can slip remnants of what's left of us through
and give me back what I once gave to you.

Thanks for the feedback. I kind of edited a few words after posting it to sound less redundant. :)
