The Light

by kandace   Oct 24, 2007

A bright light lay in his palm.

The light of happiness maybe?

Or even the light to heaven?

You want to touch the light.

Its seduction draws you to the man in front of you.

Do you reach forward or do you step back?

You think it's worth the try.

The seduction becomes more tempting.

You stretch out your hand to his.

You feel the breeze of cold as you come closer.

You hesitate right before you touch the light.

The room goes dark and you stand with a bright light in your hand.

A mirror stands before you.

You step closer to see your reflection.

Your older your hair is gray your skin is pale your eye's are filled with emptiness now.

As you stand in the dark room your mind starts to panic and your heart starts to race.

You try to drop the light but it remands in your palm.

You scream but your voice remands silent.

And the light begins to brighten the room.

The mirror is gone and the room is empty.

You feel faint you begin to slowly fall.

You lie on the cold floor.

Silently you lay their staring at the light.

It begins to flicker.

A tear runs down your cheek.

Your breathing becomes faint as the man who had held the light appears above you.

Leaning forward he brushes a tear from your face.

Your last tear your heart stops beating as you and your light dies into darkness

P.S reason I put 4/5 is because its not a poem more of a story.
