Firelight

by Grace Delight   Nov 1, 2007

Flickering flames
dance in a carnal pattern
reflecting my mind
it always seems to beckon

Ignited sparks that refract through the glass
I can almost touch your face
why can't you be put out
like fire withering to ash
It's so easily done

Yet you bewitch me with your warmth
a candlelight burning in my mind
don't you ever sway under my breath?
darken your light and leave me be

There is also another glare
ablaze with passion in my heart
the one that devours and provokes
the flow of molten desires

Maybe I will never be able
to put you out
for whenever I suppress you
smothered with tears and words
the coals rekindle
all over again

Flickering flames
dance in a carnal pattern
reflecting my mind
it always seems to beckon
