In my heart
Of hearts
I never dreamed
One day I'd be
One of the people
You used to talk about
With me

"I meant to keep up
A friendship with her,
But it's hard
When it's long distance"

Ours worked for a while
Didn't it?
But your successes
And challenges
And my unending
Failures
Tossed us even further apart
Than mere miles

I only know
That every day
I do not hear from you
Is like a fresh stab wound
In my heart

    Very sad....as the years go by and the distance looms.....it breaks the bonds of even the strongest ties sometimes.....
