When I saw you standing there
I can't explain what I felt
As you touched your hand to my own
I tried to act like I didn't care
I felt as though my broken heart would melt
I stood there feeling so alone
I longed to throw my arms around your neck
I wanted you to hold me close
And tell me you'd never again leave me
I wanted you to whisper in my ear
The words I haven't heard for so long
I wanted to look into your sad brown eyes forever,
Knowing that as long as you are near me
And you held true to the promise that you already broke
That you could make everything better
I felt the rising tears swell in my throat
Although I kept them all in
and held them silently inside me
I wanted to cry into your shoulder
So you could tell me not to worry
I wanted to run into your strong arms that used to hold me
And breath in your fragrance forever
I wanted to hear your voice sing to me
The songs only I had heard you sing
I wanted to tell you everything I've ever felt for you
Suddenly I wanted to scream the three words to you
That I had been afraid of for so long
I wanted you to know everything that's inside my heart
I wish I could have told you that you mean everything to me
That without you everything had gone wrong
Instead I clung silently to my pride
I knew I couldn't tell you how much I still care
I had to hold it all inside
