"Never Will I"

by Stephanie Ricks   May 11, 2004

A tutelary spirit as the demon of Socrates,
Has taken hold and is so torchering me.
Yet mine has a face and it has a name,
To me though he is not human for bringing forth such pain.
For taking the only thing I held dear,
And using our Daughter to make his intentions clear.
I am so afraid though to fight this deranged animal,
For in the past my strength proved unsuccessful.
What do I do hanging by his string in space,
Surrounded by darkness I just want out of this place.
But I am still here of sound mind, body, and soul,
And it'll be a cold day in hell before I just give in and let go.
