A Lonely Christmas Eve

It's that time of year again where everyone is jolly.
Everyone except one girl who only wishes for a friend.
Every year its been the same, the ones she loved have gone away, leaving her out in the cold.
No snow this year, just as the last.
Seems Christmas magic only comes to the rest.
No happy endings, she should know by now
It's not like in the movies where everyone receives a special someone.
No loving arms to fall into.
No kiss upon her forehead.
She's left to taste the bitter tears,
reminding her of lifelong fears,
Sitting there alone this time,
She looks on through broken glass,
Couples sharing tender moments
on chilly winter nights.
It never used to be this way,
Once so long ago she had a hand to hold.
Then around the corner a curious sight appears,
a lonely girl no older then herself sits in a corner and cries, she looks to the heavens and whispers a simple prayer only not to be alone on Christmas day.
And as the tears keep poring down the other girl
Whispers her only Christmas wish.
"Jesus, please send us an angel this year so we won't have to spend another Christmas alone."

****Yeah I know its more of a story type thing then a poem and its not vary good, but nonetheless I was hoping that maybe this would be a gentle reminder to say a prayer for the ones who will be spending Christmas alone this year**
