A Mothers Promise

by justeene   Nov 22, 2007

She sits there, on the bathroom floor, broken in two.
Looking at the test, those double lines in blue.
What is she to do, all on her own,
Thinking about the relationship, her boyfriend threw.

Now with a little life, growing inside her day by day,
Alone and helpless, her life path not going her way.
Her friends, no longer there for her, no longer in site,
Every conversation she has, turns into a fight.

Her mother and father, pushed her out of home,
Now on the streets, sleeping on a piece of foam.
She sees she has nothing left, but a life of loneliness,
A cardboard box to sleep on, and days of hungriness.

She sees a shard of glass, lying on the ground,
Her heart feeling, that it was meant to be found.
She picks it up, and places it on her tummy,
But then she says to herself, I'm going to be a mummy.

Dropping the glass, she remembers who she is,
She runs from that spot, she so lonely lived.
Finds hope in a shelter, with warm food and a bed,
And there she stays, her old life forgotten and dead.

She thinks about her baby, she wonders about him,
Thinking what kind of life, is ahead for him.
She then realizes, they were meant for each other,
And now she promises him, he's going to have the best mother.

"She sit there, " << sits.

Wow, this is an amazing poem, darling.
    I really liked it.
Some of the rhymes could have been better.
And, in the first line you can take out a comma.

But, other than those few minor things you did wonders with this poem
It's so sad, yet so amazing.
You did a great, great, great job with it.
