Love Through The Ages

by Michelle   May 11, 2004

I sit here at ninety-three
You are now ninety-five
I told you long ago, darling
Our love would still be alive...
I have many wrinkles now
Both of our haiuh has turned gray
But our feelings have never wavered
Just the outsides we portray.
We met when you were thirty-four
I was then just thirty-one,
At a time in each of our lives
That off-course we had run.
You were going through some hard times
I was in a bit of a spiral down,
Then God guided us to one another
And turned our worlds around.
You went from Ramsgate to Gillingham
Things started getting better there,
And far away I lay down my head each night
Feeling as though He had heard my every prayer.
After months of yearning for your touch
We were at long last brought together.
The moment we first held one another
Is something I will treasure in my heart forever.
Those two brief weeks passed so quickly by
And then we were torn from one another yet again
It hurt us so! to be apart
From our lover and best friend...
But a few more months and it happened
The visa was approved and you came home
Ever since that wonderful time
Not far from each other did we roam...
We stood in front of God
Our many friends and family,
And celebrated putting on the bands
That bound us as one eternally.
I won't forget the first time
That you made love to me
The anticipation and deep love within
Made it more than I thought it could ever be.
Corey grew up to be such a fine man
And terrific big brother to our son
Before he was even conceived
(Remember?!) We knew he'd be named Dylan!
That beautiful night when he was born
You stroked my cheek and held my hand so tight,
Then the doctor said it was time
So I pushed hard, with all my might...
And at last there he was...
Finally... before our very eyes,
The love I saw shining from your watery gaze
Nothing on this earth could disguise.
As both of our children grew older
We tried to teach them right from wrong
They didn't always have their way
But like us, it made them strong.
When they moved from the house
Desiring independence of their own,
We added even more dimension to 'us'
As we spent some time alone...
And sweetheart, we have grandchildren now...
And even a couple great!
Who would have guessed from just one night
Would come such a loving fate?
You're the best companion I could have asked for
To journey with along life's winding road
And our path to Him isn't over yet
But our future bound together was long ago foretold.

xxxCraig, I love you with all my heart and soul baby...forever. Mich
