Where i'am from

by Brian Yazzie   Nov 24, 2007

I'am from a place
where monsoons and
monuments collide...
i'am from a place
of old and new,
gold and blue...
i'am from a place
of open-land and
ancient ruins...
but then again
i'am from a place
where elders try to preach
and alcoholism is on the street...
i'am from a place
where red and blue change
sluggs with no retreat...
i'am from a place
where the law is in corruption
at its peak...
i'am from a place
where it is careless
about employment and education...
i'am from a place
where politicians are fronting
up in high places..
while modern-day genocide
is what we are facing...
i'am from a reservation.
