A Kissed Prayer

by brie kelly wise   Nov 25, 2007

To the sound of his warm laugh in the winter
To the sound of the car pulling through
I knew you were young
But I also knew you could hear it too

I wanted to ask him a question
Why does he fall apart so easily
I thought he was stronger than mom's words
But obviously it caused the bleeding

I can't believe its November
As I held the thought up in the air
And kissed it sweetly
With a beautiful prayer

As december rolled around
I could just remember his face
It was so soft and beautiful
It would blend in with this thing we call grace

Hopefully by march, we'll see his car pull around
And his long knock will stop the home
As we race to the door our hearts race
Almost as fast as we jump into his arms

But who knew a dream could just be a dream
And maybe we deserved better
But even 10 years later I'm writing to you
And not all these words can fit in this letter

Even though he left us and cut a new path
We're still strong enough to move along with the trail
It was a huge weight put on our shoulders
But even we measure greater than the scale

No one said we have to let this go
But everyone knows we havent lost anything
I just pray that we'll see him one day
And he'll still be as soft as spring
