The Hurtful Truth

by rrrrrrr   Dec 15, 2007

Death without suffering; termination without pain,
Tell me, from this, what do we gain?
Murder without reason; loss without hope,
What can we do, other than cope?

Inject the needle - instant death,
Doctors say it was for the best.
Even if you, the patient, had no cure,
Would you rather choose the pain to endure?

The passing of time increases the anxiety,
Of not knowing the future; of what you will be.
Everyone has a right to live,
You don't know if God you can ever forgive.

Why you? Why at this moment?
They're poisoning you without your consent.
Why now? Why at this time?
Do the doctors know it is a crime?

Euthanasia is a serious matter,
Every time we do it, it makes God sadder.
The elderly and sick need our attention,
So do the children, not to mention.

A human is human, no matter what your condition;
They can't touch you without your permission.
As humans, we've got rights to live regardless of age,
Life shouldn't be ended by someone paid an hourly wage.

Whether you call it mercy killing or assisted suicide,
The rules don't change and the laws still abide.
God has planned your beginning and your death,
What if now wasn't your time to take that final breath?

I had to write this for a Religion ISU.
