Mind Your Own Business

by xoOrdinaryGirlox   Dec 16, 2007

I know a girl called Skyla
Such a pretty little girl
She minds her own business
Living the days as they pass by

Her daddy giving her a bath
And hurrying her to bed
The story gets read
The lights get turned off

Laying alone
Blissfully unaware
Sleeping soundly
No movements

Hours later a loud crash
As daddy stumbles in
Cursing and swearing
The little girl awakens

One thought as she wakes
...Oh no, not again...
As daddy shouts
Making his way over

Hiding under her duvet
Blocking out the world
Screaming as loud as she could
Only to go unheard

Daddy falls
She yelps in pain
Daddy tugs at her
And starts again

Motionless she lays
Numb from the pain
Sobbing silently to herself
Hoping to fly away

Daddy does his deed
Then slowly walks away
Peeping over the duvet
A sigh of relief she breathes

Around she turns
Head on the pillow
One final look
Eyes closing slowly

Her eyes shut tightly
As tears start to escape
Millions of stories told
In each and every drop

Little does anyone know
What lies behind her tears
No-one around to listen
To understand her daily life.

I know a girl called Skyla
Such a pretty little girl
Minding her own business
Living the days as they pass by
