A Thousand Tears (School Firebell Rings)

by DiamondChild   Dec 21, 2007

A Thousand Tears

A bell rings out, its cry resounding
We moan and shout, outside it pounding
Down with rain, some thunder too
And no one wants to get wet through

If only we knew, way back then
Seems so long ago, that that day began
It was not a practice
It was not fake
And assuming this was our first mistake
Slowly trudge out to the halls
When a chocking smell becomes us all
The lighting flickers, then darkness fell
Then came the first distressing yell
'Oh God!' they cried 'Oh God!' again
'Its a real fire!' A rush breaks out when
Suddenly, this girl, she falls
But no one cares, not one at all
All on the top floor
Must get down
In this sea of panic, and noise, I drown
We tear down the stairs
And reach the door
When I hear a cry, and turn
To see that girl on the floor
I run back and grab her
Arms stretched out to me
Together we run - to the doorway we flee
But just as we get there, the ceiling caves in
And right there, in that moment -
Is when all Hell begins

Its hot and it¢s smoky- I barely can see
And no one has waited; its just her and me
The fire, its spread to
The outskirts of the room
And if the flames do not kill us
The smoke will do soon
Then a scream, from the other side of the rubble
Someones come back to help us!
But now their in trouble
Smoke overwhelming, I take one last breath,
The world all starts spinning
Near unconsciousness
Then through a gap in wreckage
A break in the flames
I see a sight, for which
We all were to blame.

My Best Friend lying on the floor
A single tear rolls from her eye
A tear a blood, just one, no more
The final shed, before she died.

Shrieks ring out, screams of terror
My heart, it pulses.
Its now or never
I shove the girl
Out through the flames
Fall to the floor
Collapse in pain...

~

I step out, a black veil upon my head
With a rose in honour of the dead
A sea of students gathered to mourn
A school so silent never seen before

With a broken heart time cannot mend
I lay down my rose for my best friend
A thousand tears shed. Just one grave,
And hers the one life failed to save.
