Christmas Day

by Dayne Middleton   Dec 21, 2007

All alone I bear the crest,
sitting here before i lay to rest.
Problems i don't think about close in on me,
joining isn't all what its up to be.
Leaders with no leadership skills,
tell our fate as they take their pills.
As a group of revolutionaries try to take
capital hill.
Its cold in December, at home i will be missed
writing this message to send home on Christmas.
dear family i love you all i send hugs and kisses
but i just wrote to let you know i will not be home
for Christmas.
i look up hear a distant cry,
shrapnels falling one barely misses my eye.
explosions rocking the ground
my hearings gone all i hear is the pounding
of my heart, I'm on the ground i see the stars.
it all starts to go black and I'm sad to say
i wish i could be home for
Christmas day.

This poem is really sad. I would hate if a family member of mine did that (or even if i did). I think its a really good poem
