Champagne

by Arunansu   Dec 26, 2007

The year completed
one full cycle
fastened to keepsakes,

keeping in mind
a night of laughter, handsels,
friends and You.

I had poured sparkling wine
down your shoulders.

Soon glasses got emptied,
then the bottle;

then bottles

I wished to preserve
your lipstick on my collar,
but

Let tonight be a night
alone with your photo
and the fizz of champagne.
