To Be With You (In Segovia)

by Soulful Ensemble   Dec 28, 2007

What do I have to do to be with you?
I bought some kings and queens from fallen lands and brought them here for you.
You think they're boring, I can see it in your eyes,
Well I'm sorry honey, I'll tell them to say goodbye.
But if I bring the savior himself, please be inclined to say "hi",
And take me back before the moon is high.

I can't see you through the fog, you know, and its hard to try,
I'll strain my eyes for you, but you know I can't fly.
The smoke is clearing, and our time is nigh,
It seems destiny wants you to me mine.
But what is destiny, if you can change the time?
What is time, if its all stuck in your slime?

Now I can't move, you trapped me well,
In the town square there is the ringing of a bell.
They look for me, now, and my shell,
Which I hide under with my kidnapped belle.
Will they find you and I and break the spell?

We travel long and far, at Segovia, we somehow arrive,
A small peasant comes forth in drags, saying, " Who do you want madame?"
She replies, " I don't know but I took a deep dive,"
"And have no idea if to live or die."

The worthless wino turns and yells, " everybody come this way!"
"I've found the queen of Spain, and she's taller than we prayed--"
"As well, her lover seems to have her swayed."
"Have her swayed?" I ask, " If I may"
"She's here because she loves me more than all of Spain"
"And truly needs me everyday."
"Isn't it so Faye?"

"Faye?" Say the peasant village slaves,
"That is her Majesty, don't call her by her name."
"Well.." I reply astonished, "judging by your weigh,"
"You have no right, or power, to tell me how to behave."
"And if you ask her for yourself, I'm sure she's fine with Faye."

I looked at Faye, delighted with bliss,
And tried to reassure myself, as it were,
That she was fine with the way I talked to her,
And nothing was amiss.

Just then the village gathered and one of their's came forth,
He was taller than the rest, and wore the nicest clothes.
Clearing his throat he asked, " Well, ma'am, now that you traveled north"
"What kind of name would you like to be called?"

Faye seemed to have a deep insight and looked down to the floor,
Her voice was a bit raspy; she didn't speak a word.
Her Majesty simply walked away, my heart in her hand,
It stopped beating as she walked over the land beyond
And my body fell, not knowing which way to respond.
