Greatness Unknown

by Shaikha MB   Dec 28, 2007

On Cold windy night,
Quite close to midnight,
There sat a boy remembering a girl,
Who had changed his life for the better.

What he could remember,
Was looking in to her eyes,
He saw the truth,
Pain she had hidden,
Love she had lost,
And a life she had never had!

The pain of a thousand worlds she carried,
A cut so deep she hid the secret of her own shortness of time,
Perish she would,
Without a word,
With only the courage of a generation,
Guided by her belief,
And the strength she found in others.

Her hope and faith kept her going,
If only she would have had another day,
Her love a dream so far away,
If only the dream could have warmed her heart,
On a cold winter night,
Quite like tonight.

A far fetched thought,
The little midnight butterfly,
Her lost memory,
Her heart so full of life,
So full of love,
Courage,
Faith,
Hope,
But never happiness.

She hid it so well,
You would have never been able to tell,
Never been able to guess the truth,
Yet you would have wondered why you felt so safe and secure,
Whenever you were around her!

She hid your secrets deeper then her own,
By herself,
All alone,
Without fear,
Only understanding,
Without sadness,
But reality,
Respect,
And also such kindness.

For a life so full of challenges,
She would still be so dedicated that she would never relish,
Cut by cut,
Wound by wound,
She buried them,
Deep in her own heart and soul,
As deep as possible
She would hide her tears,
And all of her fears,
So no one will ever know.

Little by little,
All that was left was broken pieces of a soul so magnificent,
So peaceful,
So precious.

She perished by what she hid,
By what she covered for the sake of others,
For her eternal love,
An eternal life.

Kindness so unbelievable,
It took her away from everyone,
And lead her to the ground,
The earth and soil she loved so dearly,
Now she is finally a part of.

Alas too soon,
So young,
And so full of life,
She could have been the world to someone
And now no one will ever know!
