When I first met you,
I could never have known
That I would feel this way -
That I could now feel this alone.

When we first got together
And you held me so tight,
I could never have guessed
How lonely I'd be tonight.

And when you first kissed me,
Pressed your lips against mine,
I never realised
That I'd never again find a love so kind.

But when I said I loved you,
I swear I lied.
Love could never explain
This pain I feel inside.

I swear I lied.
What else could I do?
You no longer wanted me -
You said we were through.

I thought I could make you stay
With that one simple phrase.
Thought I could keep you with me
For a couple more days.

But I don't feel
As I did a couple of days before -
I don't love you.
No, I don't love you anymore.
