Wasted Time

by Brad Champagne   Jan 2, 2008

I've spent and wasted life and love,
Endured the pain, found no relief,
My thoughts as fall, a dying leaf,
Whilst in the dark I make my way.

With strength from friends, and from above,
A ray of hope as yet doth shine,
For though my love may yet be thine,
It waits to find that fateful day.

Your words of rebuke have struck a chord,
Though not the ones you would think.
As into my heart these do sink,
My feelings spread in wide array.

At first it stung like struck by sword,
In time the wound began to heal,
And then the truth seen all too real
As anger and hatred slowly decay.

Go do all as see you fit,
While ever I shall keep my peace.
In the sheet of time it's but a crease,
Barely a needle lost in the hay.

Knowing where my heart does sit,
Between my love and your distain,
Where no single feeling or thought ordain
That happiness will show its face today.
