Till the day you pass me by

by Helene   Jan 2, 2008

If I was standing at your doorstep,
Some random quiet day,
If you were walking down the street
And saw me passing on your way,
Would you hear me out and listen,
To the things I have to say,
Or would you pass me by and leave me,
As if you didn't know my name?
I could tell you I was sorry,
I could tell you you were wronged,
I could say I never found a place
Since you where I belonged.
I could beg you to forgive me,
But would you ever care?
Would it ease your pain to know the guilt,
That's in my heart somewhere?
Would it help to know I'm restless,
Even though it's been so long,
Would it help to know that I've been weak,
When I used to be so strong?
I could tell you that I loved you,
And it hurt to see you cry,
But the truth remains a secret
Till the day you pass me by.

Yours
