Promise.

The soundtrack to
last summer
is staring us down.
The rhythm is
pulsating, pulling
me into the sun.

It's been a month
since you were seen,
I wish for how
things could have been,
but wishing never
does us any good.

All of these things that hold us down.
All of these same things lift us each above the ground.

The safety nets are pulled, but
can we balance on our own?
Our shadows, twisted, tangled;
Can we make it on our own?

Remember all the things we said?
All the promises;
The fear we bled.
Remember we can never let us down.

All of these things that hold us down.
All of these same things lift us each above the ground.

The safety nets are pulled,
hope we can balance on our own.
Our shadows, twisted, tangled;
Can we make it on our own?

    Wow, wow, wow...
    This is one of the most amazing friendship poems I've read in a while...
    Whole piece is excellent, written with amount of heartfelt emotions. Your descriptions are vivid, beautiful, and the whole piece has great flow and wording.
    Deeply touching, original piece, truly captivating
    from the first to the last line.
    I can't choose my favorite stanza, whole poem is truly great.
    You did really good job with rhymes, too.

    Keep writing, you have a way with words :)
