Those Copper Eyes

by silhouette fairy   Jan 8, 2008

Lonely, walking fast,
the night creeping up,
without my light to guide my way.
My eyes try to adjust.
Lost.

I wander in the dark
not knowing which way to head,
then I see a small dim light.
Coming closer it shines brighter.
You.

Then touching my cold hands
you gently guide me.
Slowly we walk.
My eyes adjust now, seeing clearly.
Home.

As we approach the clearing
our pace lessens more,
almost to a stop.
Slowly you turn your head, our lips touch.
Kiss.

The blood rushes to my head.
Dizzy and faint, I start to fall,
but strong arms catch me,
never letting me go.
Safe.

Entangled in your clutch
i smile, staring into your eyes.
Searching for your thoughts,
all easily hidden behind the copper.
Eyes.

Looking back at me you smile,
and we begin to walk up the path.
Up the stairs, to the door we head,
and with one last kiss the door closes.
Dark.

Alone again, but better this time.
I've seen my light.
With my eyes adjusting well
I head to bed for sleep.
Peace.
