Learning to Forgive

by Gale   Jan 8, 2008

You left me standing there
Like a fool with flowers in his hands
"There's another man"
I shudder when I think about him

What's his name?
Does he make you happy?
More so than I do?
Must be

You pack your things
You try to apologize
I don't want to hear any of it
i just open the door

I watch as you get in the cab
Leaving to his home no doubt
You speed off into the city
the rain starts to pour

I hear you're unhappy now
With the guy you left me for
I smile when I hear this
Not because you might come back

I hear a knock on my door
You're standing there smiling
Expecting me to take you back
All I do is stare

"Aren't you glad to see me?"
"Come on baby, let me in."
"What's wrong with you?"
I just stare back

"I've learned to forgive you,
But I haven't forgotten."
I step back
And slam the door in your face
