Why I Came

by brie kelly wise   Jan 9, 2008

I pulled up to your house on third street
My foot slammed on the pedal and my heart skipped a beat
I could see a shadow of your face from the curtain
You'd seen me too I was certain
I closed my eyes as I gathered myself
To walk up to that door and face what you call yourself
My heels hit the concrete like the monster that came between us
I knew it was time to come out and discuss
What I really meant to say the night
Just know it was out of confusion and not out of spite
As soon as I start explaining you pull out a guilt trip
I pull away straining from your right grip
I guess I came here to tell you it was just a slip
But you're not ready to move on so I might as well forgive
Myself for coming back again
Because you'll never know the real reason why I came
