In a perfect world

by silence kills   Jan 11, 2008

In a perfect world our first love, would always be our last
The longing and the heartbreak would all be in the past
In a perfect world our families, would never fall apart
They would cherish one another to the end from the start
In a perfect world our people, would never know of pain
Because the hurting hands of others would all become humane
In a perfect world our bodies, would never feel the cold
The warmth from others would sustain us until we're old
In a perfect world our hearts, would never understand 'alone'
For they'd always be content from all the love that has been shown
In a perfect world our children, would not be left behind
Because the reaching hands of others would be patient and kind
In a perfect world our eyes, would not witness poverty
They would vision only happiness for that is what they see
In a perfect world our society, would not be prejudice or hate
We'd accept the differences, we'd appreciate and wait
In a perfect world our lives, would never know of death
We would not feel the sacrifice of taking that last breath
But our world is not perfect and it will never be
We experience these hardships because the hardships set us free
