Turning Around.

by Brittany   Jan 12, 2008

I can't complain.

There wasn't anything for me to lose,
Just a face I couldn't quite remember,
And a love I'll never know.

I can't forget.

There were too many sleepless nights,
Just a familiar feeling -- nervousness,
And dreams I'll never tell.

I can't hide.

Not from you,
Not from this,
And not from myself.

I'll turn around.

I won't face you,
Or this,
Or even myself.

I'll stare hopelessly out the window,
Watching the world,
Instead of living in it,
Crying for others,
Letting their mistakes pass by like the objects on the street.

When it comes time for me to venture,
I'll close my eyes and breathe.

[Inhale]
Sweet scents of brisk January frost.

[Exhale]
Memories of you.

Touching poem. I really like the bit about exhaling memories of you. I wish I could do that, but the memories just won't go. Brought a tear to my eye. Keep it up!
