She Couldn't Lie

by marilyn marti   Jan 16, 2008

...and so she looked into those eyes
though it was hard, she did not cry
He looked so lost, she couldn't breathe
she couldn't lie, she couldn't leave
and so the storms came strong that night
she knew that he was not alright
and though-sorry-was just a word
she wished to lessen all his hurt
Lightning striked, the peace was gone
she felt like everything was wrong
Her room was cold, the sky was dark
she felt a knife go through her heart
She felt the tears form in her eyes
the pain was way too much to hide
She felt so lost, she couldn't breathe
She couldn't lie, she had to leave.+

    Wow... that's powerful.
Not my usual style of preference but you pulled it off from the 1st line. Well done.
