Memory Banks.

by Brittany   Jan 18, 2008

Yesterday's walls are black and white,
They play my memories,
Bruised and tattered.

These old reels are falling apart,
As I constantly review us,
Running through the long grass,
Climbing senselessly up trees,
Jumping into muddy rivers.

Yesterday you'd have turned around,
You would have smiled and grabbed my hand,
And taken my breath away.

My hands are empty now,
Because yesterday is gone,
It's in the dim banks of our river,
Hiding so deep, it'll never come back,
Today is all that's left.

Yesterday you'd have forgiven me,
Taken the blame into your hands,
And me into your arms.

I'm left alone,
With the sounds of rushing water,
Normally comforting,
But not when it encourages the reels to rewind,
And replay.

That is a really sad poem, the memories with someone that really meant a lot to you will always be with you,, you'll always remember that one time when you stayed up late watching a scary movie, or the time when you were so tired you slept and time flew by.. it's the little things that you'll never forget.. like the times when he shows up unexpectedly with a red rose.. & you'll always want to relive those sweet memories.. just for one more second..
I really LOVED your poem.. Great job. & as i said.. KEEP WRITING !
    take care x
