She didn't Want Her Friend to Find out That Way.

by haunted   Jan 19, 2008

They met at her house,
Having fun trying on make up and
Trying on clothes
Until the sun went down.

Her father called and said it was time to go
But she refused and said, "Dad can I sleepover?".
Her father hesitated, but said Yes.
But she thought her father would say No.

They slept late, talking about school.
Even 2 grades apart, they looked the same age.
Their friendship was like a jewel.
But the older one didn't know the younger one was locked in a cage.

She went into 6th grade, and the other into 8th.
The younger one fell in love.
And the older one wanted that too.
But she still didn't know the younger one was locked in a cage.

Life was easy for the both of them,
Seeing each other, not caring about school.
But when school did start,
The younger one was falling apart.

She told her other friend who was her age,
That she was locked in a cage.
Her father called her useless,
Her mother called her stupid,
And her sister just said b***h.
She cried like a child when they are born,
Unable to stop,
Man, she was really torn.

But the older one came into the room,
And the younger ones didn't realize.
The one with tears looked up and almost screamed.
She didn't want her friend to find out this way.

It got better, she started seeing a counselor.
Everything was going fine,
Until her family said she had crossed the line.
It was the night of December 6th, 2007.

She had an orchestra concert that night,
And the older one had a band concert.
She stayed back with her friend to be company,
But told her mother she had to practice her violin.

Her mother said OK and sent food with clothes.
The young one was grateful,
And waited until 6:00 to go to the orchestra room.

6:30 was the time she had to go on stage to perform
With her classmates.
And it finished at 8:30.
She went to go get her jacket
And her dad called.

She put it on loudspeaker,
And the older friend was with her in the dark of the halls
Her father shouted,
"Where the hell are you?"
And she said upstairs to get her jacket.

When she got downstairs,
Her parents said Time to go Home.
Her friend came with her.
When she got in the car,
Her father yelled,
"Why did you lie?"
She didn't reply.
In the middle of the road
Her father stopped the car
And got out.
He opened his daughter's door,
And slapped her on the head.
She begged for him to stop,
Her mother doing the same.
Her friend looked disgusted but at the same time,
She thought that with her, the younger one wasn't the same.

Her father sent her friend home,
And tugged at his daughter's hair some more.
When they got home,
Her father started all over again.
Only this time, it was worse.
He called her useless, and heartless.
His daughter was hurt.
Her life was already torn,
He didn't have to make her feel like she never wanted to be born.

With all the yelling and screaming and crying,
The older friend was listening outside of the house through the window,
She thought how miserable her friend must be to always be lying.
She thought no wonder her heart's always filled with sorrow.

The younger one changed,
But not in a good way.
She stayed away from her father
And mother.
For they both called her stupid and useless that night.
When she cried, she made sure no one would see her
Tears that were hot.

The older one told her she knew what happened that night.
How her father's hand had given her a fright.
Now the younger one was certain in her life there was no light.
It was only as dark as night.

The younger one stayed away from her friend too.
To avoid lying and hurting her.
But her friend didn't care.
She wanted the younger one out of the cage.
But the younger one didn't care either.
She never wished it happened like this.
She didn't want her friend to find out that way.

This probably doesn't mean anything to you guys, but if you REALLY pay attention to the words, it's telling how I lied a lot so ppl couldn't see I was captivated in a cage. It's also showing how I didn't wanna hurt my friend to find out I was lying to cover up what I really felt. Hope you see that if you really focus.
