My Summer Breeze 8-27-96

by Phil Laws   Jan 19, 2008

In the evening
On a night not unlike this
I found my time to wonder
For even with answers the questions remain
With reasons behind reasons
For reason that you can not say
Present wind of your seasons
Brings change to the water you bear
It's now only for yourself
Your kinder
Your kind
Too kind for my stable summer breeze
Not to be returned
The puzzles incomplete
My nature's left me
One once again
With my cool summer breeze
Though I'm already too cold
From mixing feelings
Mixing and jumping around
To conclusions then to solid ground
Rain on my hot summer days
Snow and leaves fall in time
With my emotive overture
Feeling what I cannot see with sight
Walking while I cannot go in flight
The air won't carry me
As I no longer carry air
Instead I hold water priceless still
My cup has overflown
No doubt my cup will always be full
Beyond the walls of a dream
Jumbled as hopes pocket
With no fingers to grasp with
Reach for yourself
And find yourself
To be me
One genius
With sturdy confidence
Cut by thorns without a rose
Rain on my hot summer days
Summer breeze without the sun
These emotions all unsure
Snow and leaves falling in time
With my emotive overture
Hear me calling
With every movement
Walking with thought
The sun over my shoulder
Warming my past
As the sorrow deals in time, and wins
Still the garden grows
Thorns without a rose
Summer breeze without the sun
Falling before death has won
And claimed me as her mate
