Driving Blind 2-7-04 (Song)

by Phil Laws   Jan 20, 2008

If only I could see the street I'm on
I could turn on a crossroad and be gone
Instead I see possibilities dawn
When you are able not to seem withdrawn
Half a relationship's wholly unkind
But even the lack seems to help spellbind
And every night that we sleep intertwined
Is like I'm driving myself blind

I'm just waitin' for an accident
Hopin' I can feel the road
Fatin' on this rough cement
Copin' through this episode

I can hear that I shouldn't be lonely
But I can't see anyone beside me
I fear that I'm going nowhere slowly
Until the truth of it all blindsides me
So I ride on this road that's unrefined
Jockeying through the traffic in your mind
And every night we sleep with love declined
Is like I'm driving while I'm blind

I'm just waitin' for an accident
Hopin' I can feel the road
Fatin' on this rough cement
Copin' through this episode
Relatin' to the wrong intent
Reelin' but you won't consent
Placatin' myself with torment
Dealin' with my lust unspent
Rotatin' to a new resent
Appealin' with each compliment
Locatin' what is not present
Concealin' what's self-evident

Yeah, every day I feel all the contact
Although it leaves no signs there's been impact
I say it seems that I'm being slow-tracked
But if I'm to learn from this just one fact
It's that once a relationship's defined
Take it as it is or leave it behind
And every night we slept with sex sidelined
I was just driving myself blind

I was waitin' for an accident
Hopin' I can feel the road
Fatin' on this rough cement
Copin' through this episode
