Surrouned by Love 4-3-98

The footfalls set my rhythm
Squeaks and crunches please me
Of leaves too wet to crackle
Of twigs and seeds that follow offbeat
A lonesome sparrow leads my anthem
As her hungry children await
Showing, off and on
The emptiness they feel
In a harmony
That grows more distant
As the dirt shows more of its skin
And I almost feel the earth
With a rush of realization
The sounds of a stream
Flow over me
I, as a pebble, am forced to follow the current
With the violins and oboes of green skin
Crickets slide into a smooth ballad
And the frogs meet with a dirge
That fits like comfort to love
With a fierce intensity
It all eases into a symphony
Of two kinds merging thoughts
The styles of caring shared between
In a sensation more welcomed
Stride after stride
On the doormat of a lake
That feels more of home
Than a residence can hold
My wonderful place of rest
Cradled, away from humanity
Yet so far from solitude
