Memories of bygone college days

by sonu   Jan 21, 2008

Standing alone at the college gate,
And recalling the days gone by,
I recall my first days in college,
Oh! How quickly time flies.
Four long years have passed,
But it doesn't seem that long,
With memories still fresh and new,
As fresh as the early morning dew.
The hollow rustling of the winds,
With no one by thy side,
Entering the empty classroom I feel,
A part of me has died.
First year came and went,
With no more ragging to fear,
Now its time to bid goodbye,
Oh, our farewell time is near.
Feeling of superiority came in the second year,
An attitude for everyone to see,
Confidently would stroll into the canteen,
With a look that said "Don't mess with me "
Next year brought with it ups and downs,
Incidents that would make hearts cry,
With friends motivation one would say-
"I believe I can fly. "
These four years have taught me so much,
Giving me better reasons to live for,
Showing me how life should be shared,
And the beauty of every relation, if cared.
It has taught me to stand up for my right,
Not to give in without a fight,
When to listen to the heart, when to the mind,
When to be rude, when to be kind.
Soon our college life would be over,
And we would be gone our separate ways,
Like sand slipping out of the hands,
With only memories of bygone days.
And this is the sour truth of life,
Whatever has a beginning has an end ,
But no matter where destiny takes us,
Keep in touch, we'll always remain friends.
