Sleeping Sunset

by Rebecca   Jan 22, 2008

The colors sink in the sleeping sky
It's only minutes before the sun says 'Good Bye.'

Pink, red, orange, yellow, purple and blue
Just looking at it makes you feel new.

The haze surrounds the sleepiness
Make no note of its weariness.

Birds fly high above as black marks
It is now only a couple minutes from dark.

This is when it really shines bright
Giving and guiding off its brilliant light.

The iridescent colors stream the clouds
As weary passengers drive by so loud.

The sun melts a path through to the hills
Like it was victimized today and killed.

The clouds are crying out
They smudge and pout.

They sky is depressed from the dark
Reading to it, only a child-like lark.

A dark, sleepy blanket rolls down
The sky is now sleeping without a frown.

Stars swallow the night with a twinkle
Leaving a mark, leaving a tiny wrinkle.
