I Chose Her

by Lauren   Jan 22, 2008

Out in the ocean I go,
The tide takes me in tow,
Enveloping me, bodiless, so slow,
Will I stay or will I go?

Tempted by the mermaids allure,
Aquatic bliss they assure,
To undulate in the deep waters blue,
A fresh start created anew.

Flippant frolicking with the dolphins at sea,
Where I could finally be me,
Feeling the rush of cold upon my fins,
Such purity possesses no sins.

Hair wavy and so long,
We nymphs whisper our song,
Perched upon the rocks at sea,
I look out at you and you at me.

Eyes so longing, helpless as a child,
Your heart so tender and mild,
I wave to you a final goodbye,
Back into the ocean with a contrite sigh.

Bobbing under the moonlit glow,
Like a buoy rocking, so slow,
Peace of body and soul swell,
Against polluted troubles I repel.

Silent out at sea,
Where I can be me,
Nirvana comes to be,
Created in the sea and me.
