Sky Shy Star 4-19-07 (Song)

by Phil Laws   Jan 22, 2008

She dances in shadow
Screaming her thoughts out to sea
Nervously walking a wall
That holds back all that she could be
Competing with the sun
Her light's obscured and hard to see
To distance from their notice
I grieve for her, she says sadly;

"No I am not a mirror
To see your reflection in"
"And I am not an Angel
To save you from your own sin"
"No I am not a statue
For you to find perfection in"
"And I am not a princess
For you to guard me through the din"

So I say, "My sky shy star
Maybe it's time to return
Drop your timid shield
And shine upon the world"

Well she smiles to herself
Beaming her light inwardly
Drawing in a low-tides sand
Impressions rubbed out by the sea
Regrouping every spark
To find a strength she tried to spurn
She lost her elevation
It's motivating her to learn

Say, "My sky shy star
You've little left to yearn
Exude all that you are
And shimmer on your world"

Flickering to philander
Attentive, with regard to find
Credibility in candor
So refreshing and refined
Not slighting the purpose with lies
You'd rather correct than confine
'Cause I wouldn't want to lift you high
If you didn't want to shine

"No I am not a mirror
To see your reflection in"
"And I am not an Angel
To save you from your own sin"
"No I am not a statue
For you to find perfection in"
"And I am not a genius
To even know where to begin"

No you're a star and that's why
My concern grew, your light would stall
Wounding your intent to fly
So glow for you, dazzle us all
Choose the hardships to deny
Come out bullish from behind your wall
Take back your piece of the sky
I'll make a wish if you ever fall

"'Cause I don't need a mirror
To validate my choices in"
"And I don't need an Angel
I can guide myself from sin"
"No I don't need a statue
'Cause life's more perfect uneven"
"And I don't need a princess
But, Once, I'd like to see you win"

So I say, "My sky shy star
Maybe it's time to return
Drop your timid shield
And shine upon the world"

Say, "My sky shy star
You've little left to yearn
Exude all that you are
And shimmer on your world"

If only our current crop of 'stars' displayed half the lyrical prowess that this piece does.....somehow, Katy Perry 's lyrics have never done much for me, lol

Take care and all the best

Thank you. This one cleared 80 hours of work and I don't think the Katy Perrys of the world would bother to take the time. If only they would though, as you say.
