She had a beautiful Smile.

by Krystal   Jan 23, 2008

They pull her hair and call her names,
She's the target of their games.
They mock her and tease her, and make her cry.
They're waiting for her to break down and die.
They say she's weird, even though they don't know,
That every night she takes blow after blow.
Her father beats her for being who she is,
He claims that she is not his.
She sits in her room and clears out her head,
She's dying on the inside, a shell on her bed.
The teachers notice and pretend to care,
The pain is too much and she cannot bear.
One gloomy day she prays for an end,
God answered her prayer; and sent her a friend.
A friend to rely on when times got tough,
A friend to cry with when things got rough.
But it seemed as though life envied her smile,
Because her friend only lasted a little while.
With no more smiles, but only pain,
The girl was convinced she's never gain.
She held her head high,
And shed a tear,
She said good-bye,
And forgot her fears.

Great work! A lot of people who try to write rhyming poems end up sacrificing depth and meaning for the poem but you've done both really well. This is a great poem! Keep up the great work
