I heard somebody say
I love you
I looked their way
Their arm was around the waist of

some one else

I heard somebody say
Hey! I've missed you...
I looked their way
They were hugging

some one else

I heard somebody say
I need you...
I looked their way
They were looking into the eyes of

some one else

I heard somebody say
I hate you
I looked their way
they were looking right at me

All this broken conversation
who knew
that there were so many
"yous"

Yet the words of negativity
who knew
that they were just for
me

I heard somebody say
Please, don't go...
I didn't look their way
I just kept on walking

away

from disappointment

and broken conversation
