Another

by Saul   Jan 31, 2008

I peered into the Dark and noticed someone looking at me.

I was scared at first but saw that they too
found me to be a mystery.

We were across from another on beds in a room
his face a life of love and he noticed on mine just gloom.

We realized something as we stared silently
that I was another him and he was another me.

Somehow we knew that though we were the same
he lived a life of pride and i a life of shame.

That he had everything that I had ever wanted
And he saw through me all he took for granted.

We started to fade from one another's sight
The vision of each other disappearing into the night.

I wonder if what i saw was a dream or if it was real
that the other had a life worthy enough to steal.

And if in fact i truly saw another one's life
then the unfairness of it all cuts like a knife.

What a dream it would be if his life was mine
that instead of me it would be him writing this rhyme.

I honestly do love this one.. Thinking about putting it in my locker... that is if you don't mind. I like the sense of the two figures or saul's realization that they were each other. It shows the way you have decided to go in life. I believe that in our lives there are two of us... to representations. None is worse than the other. You begin on one path and when a certain time comes the path splits and you decide which YOU you are going to be. Great job :)
