Our Roller Coaster Ride

We got into the seat
And strapped ourselves right in
Preparing for the moment
For our life to begin again

We started off so cautiously
As we slowly rode up the hill
Filled with mixed emotions
As we anticipated the thrill

We heard the clicking sounds
As we climbed up in the air
A scary, but exciting moment
Together we would share

Then suddenly it hit us
As we were spiraling down
We never had a minute
To keep our feet firmly on the ground

We began to go in circles
Spinning in a way we cannot condone
A ride, a thrill, a compromise
That chilled me to the bone

It became so overwhelming
A chance I had to take
A once in a lifetime moment
Even if it was a mistake

Although our time has passed over
I will never forget the ride
And I will never give up on the memory
That keeps me warm inside

If I never hold you in my arms
Or spend more time with you
At least I had the ride of my life
During our time that we once knew
